Western Power (and many other electricity distribution system operators) have implemented a range of measures to manage the risk of initiating bushfires
from electricity infrastructure. This presentation will cover some of the engineering and operational tools, systems and techniques employed by Western
Power to manage that risk.
Phillip Capper is the Principal Engineer within network operations at Western Power, which focuses on providing technical expertise and support relating to matters on the distribution network such as network security, reliability, capacity and constraint management as well as various high risk events.
Phillip graduated from Curtin University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) and Bachelor of Business Administration degrees. He has also completed a Master of Business Administration at Curtin University, and is a Chartered Professional Engineer on the National Engineers Register. He has over 17 years’ experience in the Australian power industry, which include field, planning and operations.
