With modern power systems battling with issues they were never designed for, the limits of existing SCADA systems for real-time monitoring are quickly
being reached. Synchronised Phasor Measurement technology has played a large role in overcoming these limits in the Tasmanian power system and its
use is set to grow further. This presentation will cover what the phasor measurement technology is and key differences from conventional SCADA information,
then give an overview of its use at TasNetworks now and into the future.
Stuart Ednie is a protection, control and SCADA systems engineer with 6 years’ power industry experience in transmission, distribution and generation. He has a passion for applying modern and innovative technology to better utilise the existing power system.
