The EESA “NSW Electric Energy Conference 2025” will take place on Wednesday 24th September 2025 at the Swissotel at 68 Market Sydney.

The conference has the theme “Updates on the NSW Electric Energy Transition.” The NSW/ACT Chapter of EESA was of the view that during these times of significant change, it was important that everyone working in the industry gets to understand what’s changing at all levels in the complex electric energy transition and this was best done with a 1-day conference.

The opening session will have 4 executives from the NSW energy businesses as follows:

  • Andrew Kingsmill – Executive Director, Technical Advisory Services at EnergyCo – “The implementation, connection, and operation of Renewable Energy Zones in NSW.”
  • Kasia Kulbacka - General Manager of Network Planning at Transgrid – “Transmission System changes to cope with the retirement of base load power stations and the connection of Renewable Energy Zones, Storage systems, gas fired generators, pumped hydro etc.”
  • Colin Crisafulli - General Manager Future Grid & Asset Management at Endeavour Energy – “Distribution System changes - managing domestic solar exports, home batteries, load and voltage variations and power quality and the connection and operation of Community batteries and the creation and operation of Stand-alone Power systems etc.”
  • Tim Jarratt, Group Executive, Market Development and Strategy at Ausgrid – “Customer impacts – the challenges with balancing Reliability, Affordability & Sustainability for a safe and reliable supply from an extremely complex network particularly during the ever-increasing extreme weather events.”

This very informative opening session will be followed by 3 technical sessions covering the following areas

  • The Future Grid and Future Customer needs – 4 presentations covering “Utilisation of Screening Methods and EMT Simulations in System Strength Planning”, "Implementation of flexible exports connection agreement, supporting tariff and emergency backstop provisions”, “The evolving needs of large customers” and “The Grid of the Prosumer”
  • Digitisation of the Electric Energy Industry – 5 presentations covering “Drones using digital twin”, “Digital Twins for large scale distribution network asset monitoring”, “Digitisation of Control Room Alarms: Keeping pace with NSW Electric Energy Transition”, “Technical and Planning Foundations for the Central West Orana Renewable Energy Zone" and “Essential Energy’s Digital Asset Management Program.”
  • Managing Resilience in Networks – 5 presentations covering “Power quality issues within the energy transition”, “Our experience using self-healing networks to improve network resilience”, “Managing Resilience in Networks”, “Climatic Whiplash and Network Resilience, what it means for us” and “Innovative ways to maximise transmission capacity: Waratah Super Battery System Integrity Protection Scheme”

The detailed program can be found at www.eesanswconference.com.au/agenda

There will be great networking opportunities during the breaks in the conference program and during the networking drinks at the end of the day. We will also have a range of sponsors and exhibitors involved in the conference.

Don’t miss this one-day event packed with powerful insights and future-focused solutions.
