Implementation of IEC 61850 Process Bus at a 132kV substation

In early 2020 Gavin presented to EESA the topic Digital Substation: Overview and Experiences to EESA. In this follow up presentation, the detailed implementation of IEC 61850 based process bus will be explored from the construction site of a greenfield 132kV substation. The presentation will show key features of the substation, the protection and control scheme architectures, and overview the construction efficiencies of this technology.

Gavin de Hosson is the Development Manager Secondary Systems at Endeavour Energy. He has more than ten years of experience in the electricity supply industry specializing in power system protection, system studies and design, post fault investigations, and investment planning proposals. Over the last two years the focus has been on IEC 61850 digital substation implementations at greenfield development sites.
